Eric Cantor

Eric Cantor is Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Moelis & Company. He is also a member of the Moelis & Company Board of Directors. Mr. Cantor, who has more than 25 years of political and business experience, was formerly United States Representative from Virginia. He served as House Majority Leader from 2010-2014, during which he led the public policy agenda for the House. During his time in office, Mr. Cantor was a champion of pro-growth solutions including lowering taxes, eliminating excessive regulation, strengthening businesses, and encouraging entrepreneurship. One of his many accomplishments as Majority Leader was the passage of the JOBS Act, which makes it easier for start-up and emerging growth companies to access capital. Given his unique experience, Mr. Cantor advises clients regarding public policy issues across industry sectors with a focus on their intersection with international business and finance. Mr. Cantor is also regularly featured in publications focusing on a wide range of topics including both domestic and international matters.

Mr. Cantor received his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University, his law degree from The College of William and Mary, and his master’s degree from Columbia University in New York. He co-authored the New York Times best-selling book, Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders. Additionally, Mr. Cantor serves as a member of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Executive Council on Infrastructure and has been named a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Thane Carlston is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Carlston has been in the investment banking industry for over 20 years. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company in 2008, he was Co-Head of the Recapitalization and Restructuring Group at Jefferies & Company. During his leadership, Jefferies advised on nearly $200 billion of restructuring transactions. Before joining Jefferies, he ran the New York office for Chanin and Company, a boutique investment banking firm specialized in providing restructuring advice. Mr. Carlston has extensive experience advising companies, equity sponsors, bondholders and creditor groups in out-of-court restructurings as well as pre-packaged, pre-arranged and unplanned Chapter 11 reorganizations. He has structured and led numerous exchange offers, consent solicitations and lender negotiations in a variety of industries. In addition to advising clients on recapitalization and restructuring services, he has advised on a number of financing and M&A transactions.

Mr. Carlston holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Utah and an M.B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Ping Chen is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company, where he advises on both Asian and global cross-border transactions across all major industries. Mr. Chen has over 11 years of investment banking experience and has completed a number of high profile transactions including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, leveraged buyouts and restructurings. Prior to joining Moelis & Company in 2014, Mr. Chen was a Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Asia Mergers & Acquisitions Group. Previously, he was an Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Citi London and started his career in the Equity Capital Market Group at Morgan Stanley London.

Mr. Chen holds an MEng and a BEng, top of the 1st Class, in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Management Studies from Imperial College London. He also holds an MEng in Financial Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Edmund P. Chiang

Ed Chiang is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Chiang has over 23 years of capital markets and investment banking experience. Prior to Moelis & Company, he spent a total of 16 years at Merrill Lynch and Banc of America Securities, where he was most recently Group Head of Private Equity Placements, a member of the Equity Capital Markets Operating Committee and a Managing Director from 2002-2009. During his tenure at BofA, his group executed over $13 billion in equity and equity-linked financing transactions, including 90 PIPE transactions for over $5 billion in proceeds. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Chiang was an investment banker in the Private Equity and the Mergers & Acquisitions groups where he advised on $17 billion of M&A transactions in addition to acquisition-related and strategic equity placements totaling $4.5 billion.

Mr. Chiang holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University.

Lawrence S. Chu

Lawrence S. Chu is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he provides financial and strategic advice to large cap companies globally with special concentration on the communications, media and technology sectors. Mr. Chu has over 19 years of experience in this role and has advised on over $375 billion of strategic transactions. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Chu was appointed Special Adviser to the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) by Chairman Wheeler. Before the FCC, Mr. Chu was a Managing Director at Greenhill & Co. focusing on the communications, media and technology sectors and prior to that, was a Managing Director at Evercore Partners.

Mr. Chu graduated magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa) from New York University with a degree in Computer Science. He is President of the Board of Trustees as well as a member of the Nursery School Board of Directors and Governance Committee of The First Presbyterian Church in the City of New York.

Kate Pilcher Ciafone is a Managing Director and Head of Global Advisory Business Management at Moelis & Company. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Ms. Ciafone worked in the UBS Investment Bank Office of the CEO and President, where she helped to analyze growth opportunities and develop the strategy of the firm. Prior to this, Ms. Ciafone was an investment banker in the Financial Institutions Group at UBS Investment Bank. In this role, she advised clients in the commercial banking, asset management, broker-dealer, specialty finance and financial technology sectors on mergers and acquisitions and raising equity and debt financing.

Ms. Ciafone holds a B.S. in Commerce with distinction from The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.

John Colella

John Colella is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he focuses on advising clients in the power and utility sectors. Mr. Colella has nearly 15 years of investment banking experience, during which he has advised some of the largest global power and utility clients on critical strategic and capital raising transactions. Over the course of his career, Mr. Colella has covered clients across several energy sectors including electric, water and gas utilities as well as independent power producers and renewable energy companies. He has extensive experience advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions. Mr. Colella was most recently a Managing Director at JP Morgan covering power and utility clients. Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2007, Mr. Colella was a member of the Global Utilities Group at UBS Investment Bank.

Mr. Colella holds a B.A. from Rutgers College and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, where he was a Park Leadership Fellow.

Elizabeth Crain

Elizabeth Crain is the Chief Operating Officer of Moelis & Company and is responsible for the Firm’s global strategy, infrastructure and business management. Ms. Crain has been in the investment banking and private equity industries for over 25 years as a banker, principal and operations specialist. She was most recently a Managing Director in the UBS Investment Bank Office of the CEO and President and served as Manager of the UBS Investment Bank Client Committee and member of the UBS Investment Bank Board. Prior to this, Ms. Crain was both the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of the UBS Investment Banking Department Americas franchise. Ms. Crain was named one of “25 Most Powerful Women in Finance” by American Banker magazine in 2011 and 2012.

Ms. Crain holds a B.S. in Economics from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the Board of Trustees of The Windward School and the Royal Academy America. Ms. Crain is also a member of the Graduate Executive Board of The Wharton School and the Dean’s Council of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Robert C. Crowley

Bob Crowley is a Managing Director and Head of the Boston Office of Moelis & Company. Mr. Crowley specializes in advising companies in the homebuilding sector. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Crowley was head of high yield capital markets at UBS and previously led top franchises in the homebuilding and environmental services sectors of UBS’s Global Industrials Group. Mr. Crowley started his banking career at Salomon Brothers and worked at BankBoston before joining UBS. Before becoming a banker, Mr. Crowley was an Institutional Investor-ranked high yield research analyst covering the homebuilding/building materials sectors. Mr. Crowley was honored as Investment Dealers’ Digest’s 2009 “40 Under 40.”

Mr. Crowley holds a B.A. in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College. He currently serves as President of Hill House, a youth oriented community center located in downtown Boston, and was previously a member of the Joint Center for Housing Studies’ Policy Advisory Board at Harvard University.

Scott DeGhetto is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Previously, he worked at JP Morgan where he was a Managing Director in the Power and Pipeline Group. Mr. DeGhetto also spent more than seven years as a Managing Director in the Global Utilities Group at UBS. He has extensive experience advising clients in the utility, power and renewable energy sectors on M&A, capital markets, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions.

Charles G. Denison

Charlie Denison is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Denison has over 30 years of investment banking experience. Most recently, Mr. Denison ran the Chicago office of Deutsche Bank and predecessor Bankers Trust since 1994, and was responsible for overseeing the firm’s investment banking activities in the Midwest as well as coordinating the strategies of the private wealth and asset management businesses. From 1996 to 2008 he was also Co-Head of the Industrials Investment Banking Group and was responsible for its Paper and Packaging sector practice. During his career, Mr. Denison has advised clients on numerous transactions across mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and debt and equity financings. Mr. Denison joined Bankers Trust in 1987 from Harris Bank.

Mr. Denison holds an A.B. in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Lyric Opera of Chicago since 1995 and of Chicago Youth Centers since 1990. He was a member of The Chicago Children’s Museum Board of Directors from 1990 until 1998.

Jared Dermont is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company. Mr. Dermont’s financial advisory assignments include advising companies, creditors and government entities in a variety of industries on recapitalizations, restructurings, mergers and acquisitions and has completed over 100 assignments representing in excess of $200 billion in aggregate value. Mr. Dermont’s domestic and cross-border M&A experience includes both buy-side and sell-side assignments as well as Special Committee representations. Bill Derrough is a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Recapitalization & Restructuring Group at Moelis & Company. Mr. Derrough has been in the investment banking industry for over 25 years. From 1998 until joining Moelis & Company, he co-founded and co-headed the Restructuring & Recapitalization Group at Jefferies & Company. During his leadership, Jefferies completed over 125 transactions representing nearly $200 billion. While at Jefferies, Mr. Derrough advised a wide spectrum of clients and investors on restructurings, recapitalizations, financings, mergers, and other engagements.

Prior to joining Jefferies, Mr. Derrough was a Principal at Doyle & Boissiere, a private investment firm, and before this, a Senior Vice President of Chanin & Company, an investment banking firm focused on restructuring advice, and a generalist in corporate finance at Salomon Brothers.

Mr. Derrough holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
