Moelis & Company today announced Edmund P. Chiang has joined the firm’s Capital Markets Group as a Managing Director based in New York. Mr. Chiang, who has been a Senior Advisor to the firm since April 2009, will continue to work with the Capital Markets Group headed by Christopher Ryan and is responsible for providing capital raising solutions to the firm’s clients. Mr. Chiang has over 20 years of investment banking experience and was most recently a Managing Director at Banc of America Securities, where he was Group Head of Private Equity Placements and a member of the Equity Capital Markets Operating Committee.

Moelis & Company launched its capital markets business in early 2009 and has since executed over 20 transactions, valued at more than $10 billion, including several transactions done as part of a broader acquisition or restructuring process.

“Our Capital Markets Group has been a strong addition to our M&A, restructuring and risk advisory practices and has allowed us to leverage the full expertise of our senior team when advising clients,” said Ken Moelis, Chief Executive Officer of Moelis & Company. “Seasoned product experts like Ed greatly complement our sector coverage bankers and his addition will allow us to further enhance our client coverage efforts.”

At Banc of America Securities, Mr. Chiang built a business spanning seven different industries and executed over $10 billion in equity and equity-linked transactions for public and private issuers globally, with financial as well as strategic investors. Prior to joining Banc of America Securities in 1999, Mr. Chiang was an investment banker in the Private Equity and the Mergers and Acquisitions groups at Merrill Lynch.

“Ed’s expertise and experience have been an important part of our team’s success in providing independent and objective advice pertaining to capital markets strategies,” said Mr. Ryan. “Companies are looking for new ways to address their capital raising objectives given the rapidly changing conditions in the market, and we believe our clients can rely on Moelis & Company to provide sound, conflict-free capital markets advice and solutions.”
