Ali Hassen is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he specializes in providing financial and strategic advice to clients in the energy sector. Ali has over 15 years of investment banking experience, having advised on and executed a variety of transactions including M&A, capital markets and restructurings and recapitalizations.
Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Ali held positions at Citi, Barclays and NRG Capital Partners, covering Energy and Natural Resources for clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Ali holds a B. Eng. in Computer & Communications Engineering from the American University of Beirut and a MPhil in Computer, Speech, Text & Internet Technology from the University of Cambridge.

Rick Haythornthwaite is the chairman of NatWest bank, the Ocado Group, and the AA and a senior advisory partner at Moelis & Company.
After a 19-year career in the oil & gas industry with BP and latterly Premier Oil, he joined the Blue Circle cement group in 1997 with responsibility for Europe & Asia and then promotion to Group Chief Executive in 1999. Following a successful hostile bid defence, performance turnaround and sale of the company, he led the rescue of Invensys as CEO, then one of the world’s leading industrial controls companies.
He has since served as chairman of Mastercard Inc, Centrica, Network Rail, QiO Technologies, and Railsr, as well as a partner at Star Capital. His past non-executive directorships comprise Cookson plc, Lafarge SA, Land Securities plc, ICI plc and Globant. He has also chaired the UK Better Regulation Commission, Risk & Regulatory Advisory Council and the Haythornthwaite Review of UK Armed Forces incentivisation. In the not-for-profit sector he has chaired the World Wide Web Foundation and, in the UK, the Creative Industries Federation, Creative England, the Southbank Centre and Almeida Theatre. He was educated at MIT and The Queen’s College, Oxford.

Mark Henkels is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he specializes in advising clients in the industrials sector. He has over 30 years of investment banking experience having advised clients on transactions in the metals and mining, capital goods, chemicals, aerospace and defense and building products sectors.
Before joining Moelis & Company, Mark was Head of the Industrial Growth and Services Group at CIBC World Markets, where he established one of Wall Street’s leading industrial banking franchises across the industrials sector. Prior to CIBC, he led the Global Basic Industries franchises at Merrill Lynch and worked at Salomon Brothers’ and Smith Barney. Mark holds a B.A. in Accounting from Creighton University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Roger Hoit is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he provides strategic advice to financial sponsors clients. Roger has over 25 years of investment banking experience, having originated and executed a full spectrum of corporate finance transactions including M&A, leveraged buyouts, equity and debt financings and derivative transactions.
Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Roger was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in the Global Financial Sponsors Group, where he built a leading franchise advising financial sponsors and their portfolio companies on strategic transactions and investment opportunities. Before that, Roger was a Managing Director at SG Cowen, a division of Société Générale, as well as a Managing Director and Partner at Gleacher & Co. He began his career at PaineWebber Incorporated. Roger holds a B.A. in Economics from Amherst College.

Philip Holder is a Managing Director at Moelis & Company where he provides strategic advice to clients with a focus on the utility, financial sponsor, and clean technology sectors. Phil has almost 20 years of experience across the energy, power and utility industries as both an investment banker and operations professional, with deep expertise in M&A, restructuring, and corporate strategy.
Phil was previously the Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning at CenterPoint Energy, where he was responsible for corporate strategy, M&A, and financial planning, in addition to the company’s ESG and Energy Transition strategy. He previously spent over 15 years as an investment banker where he provided a broad range of strategic advice on M&A and restructuring situations in the Power & Utilities sector, holding roles at Guggenheim, Citigroup, and UBS. Notably, he was the financial advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom regarding the establishment of the California State Wildfire Fund. Phil holds a B.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the Goizeuta Business School at Emory University.

Martin Houston is an Advisory Partner for the Global Energy Group at Moelis & Company. Martin has nearly 40 years of experience managing all forms of enterprise across the energy industry. He began his career in 1979 with Baker Hughes and in 1983 joined BG Group and remained with the company until 2014, when he retired as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the company’s board of directors. Since his retirement, he most recently co-founded Tellurian Inc., a company building a low-cost natural gas business, where he currently serves as Vice Chairman. In addition to advising Moelis & Company, Martin is a Vice Chairman of Hakluyt North America, a subsidiary of the UK-based strategic advisor to multinationals and financial institutions; a Non-Executive Director of CCC Energy, a private oil E&P company; and a Non-Executive Director at BUPA, the international healthcare group.
Martin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Newcastle University and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Geology from Imperial College London. He serves as an advisory board member of the Global Energy Policy unit at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, a council member of the National Petroleum Council of the United States of America, and a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.

Matt has over 15 years of corporate finance experience including extensive buy-side and sell-side experience across a wide range of industries, offering perspective from both sides of the table in public and private transactions.

Ramy has advised clients in the U.K., Europe, Middle East, and US on a broad range of mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raises, and corporate and sovereign restructurings and recapitalizations.

Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Robert was a Senior Managing Director of Tech Investment Banking at SVB Securities. Robert was also a Managing Director at UBS, and previously helped manage the portfolio of private investments for CYMI, the Mathile family office. He also served as an operating executive and CEO of a portfolio company. Previously, Robert was Co-Head Technology M&A at Jefferies & Company. Robert began his career as an M&A lawyer at Sullivan and Cromwell. He holds a B.A. from the University of Southern California, a J.D. from Columbia Law School and Masters Degrees from the University of Kentucky and Yale Law School.

Zul Jamal is a Managing Director and Co-Head of U.S. Capital Structure Advisory at Moelis & Company. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Zul worked at Jefferies where he advised clients on a variety of restructuring, leveraged finance and international financial sponsor transactions in New York and London. Zul graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Carlos is also on Billboard’s Power 100 list, an annual ranking of the music industry’s top executives, and in 2025, he was named to LA Times Banking & Finance Visionaries, which recognizes leaders in the financial sector.
